On Friday, December 2nd, the Greater Severna Park and Arnold Chamber of Commerce will light the Community Christmas Tree at 1 Holly Avenue, Severna Park. Holly Avenue, from Riggs to Evergreen, will be closed to traffic in order to create a safe place for people to congregate from 4:30-6:30. Festivities will begin at 5:00 p.m. with bagpipe music by Michael Binnie. At 5:30 Severna Park Elementary School and St. John the Evangelist School will delight with vocal performances. Maryland State Delegate Michael Malone will officially light the Christmas Tree at this time. At 5:45-6:15 attendees will be treated to dance performances by Creative Force Dance Center and The Dance Center of Severna Park. Refreshments will be served in the Chamber's Community Meeting Room, courtesy of the "Toast of Severna Park" Toastmasters Club, Brusters Ice Cream, and Office Depot. There will be special treats for children, and a visit by Santa Claus. The Severna Park Model Railroad Club train display will be open from 5:00-6:30 p.m. that day also. The train display will also be open Saturday and Sunday, December 3rd and 4th from noon-5:00 p.m. Following the events on Holly Avenue, there will be holiday entertainment at Park Plaza along with photos with Santa.
